The problem

A QR code can hide a decision inside a square.

Most QR scanners prioritize speed above all else: point, decode, and instantly open the destination in a browser. While this is convenient for restaurant menus, it is inherently dangerous in the real world.

A malicious QR code can silently redirect you to a lookalike phishing website, initiate a fraudulent UPI payment request, silently connect your device to a rogue Wi-Fi network, or trigger unexpected app intents.

QRify completely rethinks this interaction. Decoding the matrix is only the first step. Before any handoff occurs, our on-device semantic engine parses the raw data, identifies the intent, checks for manipulation, and explains exactly what the code is asking your device to do. You get full context, zero latency, and the power to decide.

Normalizes and parses URLs, then explains observable signals such as transport, domain structure, lookalike characters, shortened links, and intent-related patterns.

UPI Intent Parser

UPI QR payloads are parsed into recipient, amount, currency, and request metadata. QRify prompts review when the request deserves it.

Wi-Fi Network Analyzer

QRify interprets network setup, protection type, visibility, and malformed configurations before offering the Android handoff.

Image Recovery Engine

When a photo is difficult to decode, QRify attempts orientation fixes, contrast, thresholding, sharpening, and upscaling in sequence.

External verification

For users who want cross-verification from cloud, an external verification flow initiates using a secure and encrypted gateway that keeps provider secrets out of the app.

01 · Camera / gallery

Start with a code, not a destination.

The scanner receives a camera frame, or the gallery pipeline receives an image you selected. The app asks for the permissions needed for that path.

Security, plainly spoken

Your scan deserves a clear boundary.

Local interpretation stays on your device. When QRify offers external URL verification, it is a distinct user action-not a hidden background check.

User-initiated URL verification uses Firebase Cloud Functions and a provider-backed check. Provider credentials remain server-side.

Firebase Analytics is for aggregate product usage; Crashlytics is for crash reporting. Scanned content is not tracked as analytics data.
Configuration & ads
Remote Config controls supported feature settings. Rewarded ads may provide additional verification capacity where enabled; this is configuration-driven and documented in-app.

FAQs

Questions worth answering.

Does QRify track what I scan?+

No. Your scans never leave your device unless you explicitly ask QRify to run a cloud check on a specific URL. There is no background tracking or logging of your scanned content.

Can it guarantee a link is completely safe?+

Not completely. QRify acts like an observant co-pilot. It points out suspicious signals and can ask a cloud provider for a second opinion, but the final decision to proceed is always in your hands.

What happens if I scan a Wi-Fi or payment code?+

Instead of blindly connecting you to a network or opening a payment app, QRify pauses and tells you exactly what the code is trying to do. You get to review the details (like the network name or the payee) before giving the green light.

Why does it ask for camera and gallery permissions?+

The camera is required to actually see the codes. Gallery access is only requested if you decide to scan a code saved in your photos. We can't (and won't) look at anything else on your phone.

If it's offline-first, why does it need internet access?+

The internet is only used for three specific things: running optional cloud checks on URLs, fetching basic anonymous crash reports (so we can fix bugs), and loading optional rewarded ads if you want extra verification credits.

Does it support accessibility features?+

Absolutely. QRify respects your Android system settings. It fully supports large text, dark mode, screen readers, and will reduce animations if you prefer a calmer experience.

Does it keep a history of my scans?+

Not yet. We know how useful a local history would be, so a secure, entirely on-device scan history is currently in the works for a future update.

What if my QR code is blurry or damaged?+

If a code is hard to read live, try taking a picture of it and opening it from your gallery within QRify. The app includes built-in tools that try to sharpen and fix the image so it can be decoded.

What if I scan a weird or custom format?+

If QRify encounters a format it doesn't specifically recognize (like a proprietary event ticket), it will simply show you the raw text exactly as it's written in the code. You can then copy it or decide what to do with it safely.
